There was a lot of “70’s familiarity” in that tune but i just couldn't place it. Good vibe though Ricardo. Listening on cheap speakers here at work and it still jammed. Did you play all the instruments?

Hey LittleStar! Thanks for having a listen. I didn't play all the instruments. Myself, my friend 5-String Findlay and my man Dr.Keys do all kinds of funk and funk-related music - Keys played the keys (duh!) and he's the lead vocalist on the Thunderfunk tunes, 5-String did the bass, while I did the drums, percussion, BG Vox and all the recording/production-related work.

I've been working on some orchestral funk lately... maybe I'll post some of that sometime.

One quick note before I'm off to bed... inspired by thebassgeeks post on Mardi Gras.

In the seventies, I played in Fat City on tour quite a bunch, and was invited to sit in one night at The Old Absinthe House, along with Johnny Vidakovich (drummer/bandleader) and they called the Funkiest, Slowest 6/8 jam I've ever played - I still think about it.

When I say slow, it was rhythmic as could be, but my recollection was that the backbeat was always 3 beats away- I couldn't count it per se, but by switching my (counting) brain off, as I said, it was just soulful and unlike anything I've ever played since, and I felt almost outside myself playing.

In my TopTen of playing experiences in my life!
